HOW TO CLEAN & CARE FOR YOUR ARTIFICIAL FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS AND WREATHS!
Artificial flowers and wreaths are a beautiful, long-lasting way to bring charm and elegance into your home. With the right care, your arrangements can look fresh and vibrant for years to come. In this blog, I’ll share some simple tips on how to clean and care for your artificial arrangements so they stay looking their best.
1. Regular Dusting
Dust can build up quickly on artificial flowers, especially if they are displayed in busy areas like living rooms or hallways. A gentle dusting every week or two will help keep them looking bright.
Use a feather duster, soft paintbrush, or a microfibre cloth to lightly remove surface dust.
2. Deep Cleaning
Every few months, your arrangements may need a deeper clean to refresh their look.
Silk flowers: Place them in a paper bag with a small amount of salt or baking soda. Shake gently—the powder helps lift away dust and dirt without damaging the petals.
Plastic or polyester flowers: Wipe gently with a damp cloth dipped in lukewarm water. You can add a very small amount of mild dish soap if needed, but always test on a hidden area first.
3. Sunlight & Placement
Artificial flowers don’t wilt, but they can fade if placed in direct sunlight for long periods. Try to display your arrangements in shaded or indoor areas where they’ll be protected from UV rays.
4. Seasonal Storage
If you rotate your arrangements or wreaths seasonally, proper storage is key.
Store in a sturdy box with tissue paper or bubble wrap to protect delicate petals.
Keep them in a cool, dry place to avoid dust and humidity.
Label your boxes so you can easily find each arrangement when needed.
5. Quick Freshen-Up
If your arrangement looks dull, a quick spritz with silk flower cleaner (available online or in craft stores) can bring back vibrancy. Alternatively, a very light mist of water (never soak!) can refresh plastic flowers.
